Alright.. it’s been a while since I made a food post from Helsinki! Maybe it’s because so many of our favourite vegan restaurants have since closed and it’s been disheartening. But let’s look at the positive side – here’s my list of the best 5 Asian vegan-friendly restaurants in Helsinki! These spots offer a variety of vegan choices and hopefully go vegan someday!
Make sure to also check out our quick Helsinki vegan guide for a list of all vegan-friendly spots in town!
1. Hills Dumplings
Kalevankatu 17, 00100 Helsinki
Asian fusion ‘comfort-food’ as they call it! Hills offers handmade dumplings, and plenty of plant-based dishes. It’s one of the best restaurants in Helsinki, in our opinion. Excellent service, good vegan choices, great beverages and atmosphere – casual and fun, yet with an upscale vibe.
Book that dinner date here. Or come with friends! Reservation is a good idea as they tend to get busy. We’ve tried both the Vegan Curry dumplings and the Chijeu dumplings – each dish unique and tasty.
2. The Saigonese Kitchen & Coffee
Lapinlahdenkatu 21, 00180 Helsinki
A nice little cosy eatery run by a Vietnamese fam, transports you to Saigon for a moment in Helsinki. Almost half their menu is vegan. We’ve tried the bao with grilled soy strips, and their vegan lunch dish of the day, which was a vegan curry served with rice.
The portions were good and tasty. The Saigonese also offers good Vietnamese coffee and beverages. They are open Mon-Sunday and also offer brunch menu on the weekends.
3. Momotoko *closed*
Momotoko was a top ramen restaurant chain in Helsinki, serving up Japanese ramen. We noticed that they have a whole vegan menu – the vegan Shoyu Katsu and Chili Miso ramen bowl is excellent. There are lunch bowls on offer on weekdays with a vegan choice for 12,50 EUR.

Note: mention vegan when you order, they may add egg on the veggie bowls. Momotoko chain unfortunately closed down in 2025. Another spot (Ramen Ichiraku) opened up in Kamppi shopping centre food court in its place, which we haven’t checked out yet.
4. MoMo Punavuori
Pursimiehenkatu 8, 00150 Helsinki
MoMo is a cute tiny spot downtown that I’d say is a hidden gem. They are open on a few days of the week, and specialize in handmade ‘momos’ – Tibetan style dumplings. This spot brings back memories of eating momos in the Himalayas!

The menu is to the point: 1 vegan option – momos stuffed with veg (they used to have tofu momos but unfortunately stopped, demand them again!), served in a mild curry sauce. Try the housemade chili sauce, if you can handle that! You can also get a vegan masala chai. Check opening times on Maps or their Facebook page before you go.
5. Sushibar + Wine
Fredrikinkatu 42, 00100 Helsinki
Sushibar + Wine restaurants in Helsinki are known for an extensive menu of delicious sushi and Japanese fare. They use fresh ingredients and you can find all plant-based options marked ‘V’. It may be difficult to choose from the many options they have on lunch and À-la-carte. We suggest a combo such as the ‘Greens Set’ 25.90 EUR so you can try a variety of sushi.
Helsinki has some great sushi buffet as well. I recommend Itsudemo in Kamppi ^_^
